Sixty Minute Tape, Song 5: Sam Phillips, “Remorse”

Late in 2016, I posted on Facebook about the contents of a mix tape I put together sometime in early 92.  It’s the only sixty-minute tape of its kind in my collection.  I’ll be re-upping modified versions of those sixteen posts over the coming weeks.

Leslie Phillips was a reasonably successful contemporary Christian artist in the mid-1980s. In 88, she changed directions as well as her first name (Sam was a childhood nickname), and over the next six years released three amazing rock/pop disks (The Indescribable Wow, Cruel Inventions, and the Beatlesque Martinis and Bikinis); others followed, though they didn’t grab my attention so much. Cuts from these albums appeared regularly on my tapes. I don’t watch much TV, but I’ve picked up that she had a long association with The Gilmore Girls, providing and scoring music.

I’m planning to have her make another appearance on Friday.
